Running a print job: proof and stages

A print job is the estimate, invoice or delivery challan for the work. Open it from your invoices; the two controls sit on the document's screen. A cancelled document shows neither.

  • Mark proof sent. Records that you sent the customer a proof. The job then shows the version and the date of the proof you sent, and the version goes up each time you mark another one. The count runs across the whole job, so an estimate and the invoice raised from it share it. The artwork itself still goes however you send it. The button shows until the proof is approved, and only to someone who can edit the job; someone who can only read sees No proof recorded as sent yet until one is marked.
  • Job stage. Shows where the job is: Queued, Proofing, Printing, Finishing or Dispatched, with a Move to button for the next stage. If you moved a job by mistake, the Undo button beside it steps the job back one stage, for example from Dispatched to Finishing; it goes back one stage at a time. A job cannot move to Printing until its proof approval date is recorded (there is no approve button: Proof approved on is a field you fill in by editing the job); until then it says Record the proof approval date on this job before it moves to printing. Once it is, the job shows Proof approved on and the date.

Someone whose role can only read sees the stage with Your role can see the stage but not move it. If the stage card says it could not load the stage, try again in a moment: that is a loading problem, not a job that is still queued. If your job fields cannot be loaded at all, the invoice screen says so with a Try again button, and until they load the printing cards on that screen can be missing.

What prints on the bill, and what stays on the record

Only the five line fields print, under each line of the estimate or invoice: Material, GSM, Finished size, Colours and Finishing. Job no., Delivery date, Proof approved on and Paper supplied by are saved on the document and shown in Finocket, and they do not print on the bill. The proof approval date is one you type in on the job: Finocket does not yet have your customer approve a proof online.

Sending sheets out for binding or lamination

Issue a delivery challan to the binder or laminator and book the job worker's bill as an expense with TDS. Finocket does not file an ITC-04 return for you.
